As you can imagine I’ve seen Umberto Lenzi’s Nightmare City so many times I can’t count them any more. It’s one of those films I nowadays watch when I feel totally hopeless and can’t decided what movie to watch - and Nightmare City always comes to the rescue. But I’m also a very, very curious person and that’s why I bought my mother a copy of my favorite film and asked her to watch it and answer a few questions, just like a questionnaire! But I got more than what I asked for, because she quickly involved her husband’s granddaughter, who is - of course - on the opposite side of this generation thing. I’m 37, so I guess that means I’m lurking around here in the middle somewhere. What my opinion is about Nightmare City I think you all know (and I might get back to that sooner or later, I can’t stop talking about it!), but here - for the first time - comes the judgment from mom, Wendela, and her husband’s granddaughter, Moa!
So, the first impression? What rating do you give Nightmare City, between 1 and 10? Be completely honest!
I rate it 7!What three words come to mind when you think about Nightmare City?
Knives, blood, frightened. The director claims this film is inspired by real events, what you say about that?
If it’s something today I would say Ebola.Hugo Stiglitz, who’s the leading actor and hero here, is always criticized for looking extremely bored. Do you agree?
For the most of the time, yes, but not all the time.Which was the best scene?
There’s a woman hanging from a rope from an helicopter - and then she falls down! What’s the worst thing with Nightmare City?
The make-up effects could have been better. I mean, the blood spurted directly from the skull and that’s not possible! What was the best thing with Nightmare City?
Full speed all the time, it was impossible fall asleep!Who was the most handsome person in the film?
Mel Ferrer, the older man in uniform. What really happens at the end? Will everything happen for real when he wakes up or was it just a nightmare?
It WILL happen for real (in the movie!).I’ve written many texts and reviews about Nightmare City and I own at least ten different versions of it. Should I have done something more important with my life?
You have done a lot of good things and is a good person, why shouldn’t you do what you think is fun?
That was my mom. And it seems she liked it! 7 of 10! And the best scene is when the woman falls from the helicopter?! That’s why I love my mom! Alright, lets check what the teenager have to say, I sense it will be a bit more skeptical...

Cheap, bad, amateur. The director claims this film is inspired by real events, what you say about that?
VERY loosely inspired in that case.

Well, you can say that...Which was the best scene?
When the woman falls from the ferris wheel, even if it was easy to see it was just a doll. What’s the worst thing with Nightmare City?
There was no sense of time, but it was a dream of course. And the blood looked like lemonade. What was the best thing with Nightmare City?

No, if that’s what you want to do, continue doing it.
